Geetha madam arranged a trip to Ooty. Twenty girls and boys from class six went on the trip. They travelled by the toy train. The students were all seated on the wooden chairs. Fatima had brought parotta and delicious chutney. She said that the train was so beautiful.

The train started with a jerk. It moved slowly leaving the station with a long hoot. Everyone clapped to express their joy. The train went snaking up the steep hillside. Muthu said that he could walk along its side. Geetha Madam asked him in a firm voice to go back to his seat. The girls sniggered. Monkeys were racing all along the tracks. 4. Irony is a figure of speech in which words are used in such a way that their intended meaning is different from the actual meaning. It may also be a situation that ends up quite different from the actual meaning. It may also be a situation that ends up in quite a different way than what is generally anticipated. In simple words, it is a difference between appearance and reality.

Can this poem be called an ironic poem? Justify your answer.

Yes, this poem is an ironic poem because the word ‘sage’ is used in an ironic sense to refer to a person who is dull-witted. It insists on how learned men lack practical sense.

This poem can be called an ironic poem. The character in this poem is a wise man. He has a handsome Pigtail. Naturally, it will hang behind the person. In spite of being wise, he decides to change his position. He knows it well. But he tries to change its position. He wants it to hang on his face.

How funny the idea is! The ways he follows to changes its place are full of irony. He turns him round and round, out and in, he spins all day. It all ends in vain. But he does not want to give up his trying. The poet ends the poem by saying. The Pigtail remains faithful to his back. So the poem ends with irony.

K. Make a diary entry on the impact of a sports personality who is an inspiration to you.

I have recently read about Usha Rani a kabaddi player. Her life impressed me very much. She has come from a poor town. She became determined to become a kabaddi player to fulfill her mother’s dream. She joined a club to be trained as a kabaddi player. She started playing kabaddi at the National level in the Sub-junior category.

She sold flowers to support her parents. She had been struggling until she got a job in the Karnataka State Police Force.

Usha participated in national events every year without a miss. She is skilled in giving leads, raiding opponents, and consistently playing an important role in the Indian kabaddi team. Now she is working hard and practicing every day to win the Gold medal at the Asian Games in 2020.

My joy knew no bounds when I read her biography. I’m sure that if a woman wants to achieve anything in life, she can succeed in it. I’m proud of a woman.

During the summer season, most of the trees stretch their leafy branches towards the sun but spring comes after summer. So branches are full of new green leaves and they are followed by sweet-smelling flowers. During the rainy season, the trees get wet and absorb rainwater and look green. Autumn season is an empty season. It means that no leaves are seen in the trees. Trees shed their leaves and wait to welcome the summer.

Team Work Summary in English

The poet explained the true meaning of victory. He said that everyone wants to win, to be at the top. In that stress of being at the top, we did not see around and care about other people that are in our team. He states that it matters how we stand up as a team. Either we succeeded or defeated, it matters how we pull our team with us. The other people might judge you and praise you as a single, but you will win at that time when you care for your fellowmen and worked together as a team.

The Students’ Sea Turtle Conservation Network beaches (SSTCN) is a voluntary group mainly comprising students who have been working in the beaches of Chennai since 1987 trying to conserve and create awareness about the endangered Olive Ridley sea turtle. They nest on our beaches at night, between January and March every year. During this season we walk on the beaches every night looking for their eggs which we collect and relocate to a safe place. When the turtle hatchlings emerge after 45 days, we release them safely into the sea. On Friday and Saturday nights we conduct a walk for interested people. We use this opportunity to interact with them and create awareness about the plight of an endangered species and the state of the environment. The walks are not for entertainment.
